Women Living for Christ, Part 5

Put on the armor of God & Stand Firm

Ephesians 6 gives us our instructions for living in Christ. Many times we’ll be directed to this passage because of the battle pummeling us, but it’s really not written to get us field ready for the battle encompassing us, but rather it’s about living the Christian life. It starts with instructing children to be obedient to and treating their parents with honor, and it goes on to warn fathers not to provoke their children; what I’m saying, is, this chapter is written to teach Believers how we should live.

What to Wear?

Eph 6:10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

Build your Prayer team not a Private Platoon

Being fitted for battle is necessary, go ahead and be sure you have the full armor of God in place (Ephesians 6:10-17). It’s even if feels a bit late for equipping yourself in this way; we need to always be prepared for battle, and there’s no way to fight God’s battles without God’s armor. A good litmus test to our own preparation as a soldier of Christ is how we initially respond when the battle roars. Take heed, listen to this warning, because God is enough– yes, we need to be prepared for a battle, but we do not need to gather an army. By all means, call on your inter-most prayer circle to pray, but don’t go gathering your own soldiers; this is a fight between good and evil, not flesh and blood. (Eph 6:12) It’s the Lord who we need on our team. He’ll put His army together for us.
